Aurora Images from May 2 2010

On May 2nd we had a geomagnetic storm, with high speed particles from the sun interacting with the Earth's magnetosphere. This generated strong auroras in the Edmonton region.

Easter 2010 Storm

This weekend we have been treated to some fantastic displays of the Northern Lights as the Earth was buffeted by the biggest geomagnetic storm of the year so far. The storm, which rated as a G3 or strong level storm, arrived at about 2:30am MT on 5 April and gave rise to strong magnetic disturbances that are now subsiding.
